Eliza Schroeder

Writer & Director

Eliza is an independent writer and director who is living and working in London.

From an early age, Eliza has been writing fictional stories and scripts with passion. Her creative vision and long-lasting experience as a freelance photographer provide her with the original ideas, technical knowledge and imaginative eye that are needed to be a good director.

Having always been on search to find a way of combining both, her visual and writing talent, Eliza found her real passion, being a director, a couple of years ago.

Eliza has a literal background and has obtained an MA in German Literature & Cultural Studies at Humboldt-University, Berlin in 2006.

Eliza gathered directing experience during the production of her first short film, Matilda (Official Selection of NY Short Film Festival 2007 and selected for the CAN Leicester International Short Film Festival) which she has been developing in the course From Story to Screen in Eight Weeks at the Metropolitan Film School, London in the Summer 2006. Furthermore, Eliza has been working as an assistant director on other short films and commercial productions.

In the Autumn 2007 Eliza completed an MA in Feature Film at Goldsmith College/University of London where she developed Sarah´s, her first feature film project as a writer and director.

It is Eliza´s aim and passion to build up her career as a director and First, Love?, Eliza´s second short film which is currently in Postproduction shall demonstrate her style and strong vision to get her up to the next step of directing her feature film Sarah´s.

Eliza is in love with French comedies and influenced by Auteurs of the French Novuelle Vague such as Claude Chabrol and Francois Truffaut. Her films shed lights on special journeys of extraordinary characters from a fresh perspective.

Together with the documentary filmmaker Madelon Vroom, Eliza has just launched her own production company Raindancer Films that covers fiction as well as documentary.

Raindancer Films is commited in making human, innovative and creative films that shed a fresh perspective on colourful stories that are written by life.
